Since about 2005, new Lithuanian vehicle registration plates no longer indicate the district of registration; though there are some special codes: 

• LRS - Lithuanian Parliament (Lietuvos Respublikos Seimas)
• LRV - Lithuanian Government (Lietuvos Respublikos Vyriausyb)
• KA_ - Lithuanian Military (Krato Apsauga)
• T - taxis (with yellow background)

Before about 2005, they started with a group of letters, the second indicating the district of registration:

• A - Alytus
• J - Jurbarkas
• K - Kaunas
• L - Klaipeda
• M - Marijampole
• P - Panévezys
• S - Šiauliai
• T - Telšiai
• U - Utena
• V - Vilnius
